Softball - Strike Zone

If they can hit it, call it a strike.

This is an example, "Don't have a Varsity strike zone when you don't have varsity pitching".

Can you please speak to the umpires especially in the minors that we need to have an expanded strike zone. These are young kids we are trying to develope and they are not going to be able to hit a small zone and nobody wants to watch a walk fest.

Thanks

Maybe you could speak on everyone's behalf on this subject for everyone………

We're slipping into a trend of the umpires getting too selective on the Girls Minor's strike zones.  I know a number of the managers are stressing that the girls "go for anything they can hit" – primarily to get more action in the games and fielding activity.  We're all experiencing some "very tight" strike zones that are discouraging pitcher development and encouraging batters being over selective.

Getting a little more liberal on plate calls would greatly improve the pace and excitement level, both for players and parents.
